New students will observe that planets sometimes are not filling certain houses, and wonder if that means nothing will happen in an empty house. I often hear, "If I don't have planets in the 7th house in partnership, does that mean I won't have a partner?"
No, no it doesn't work like that at all. The Natal Chart is a reflection of you, like a mirror. As you learn to understand it, there is actually nothing that doesn't make sense in there - unless you have the wrong birth time.
The Houses where your planets are stacked show that you naturally focus your energy. Sometimes I think of it as where drama or action happened, or predominant storylines in your childhood took place and you work to understand and make peace with it in adulthood.
I see many Saturn in the 7th house of people who witnessed parents marriages fall apart, and their Saturn is representing a fear around partnership, that they want to "do it" correctly and not fall into the same loss or abandonment that they witnessed. Their Saturn both keeps them from flings and hook ups, delays some of their relationship experiences, but when they do find a partner, it is often with a sense of commitment and seriousness, healing the pattern they were exposed to early on.

Here are the INTERESTING things to consider where you have EMPTY HOUSES: The sign at the cusp of your house ruler is pulling planetary energy in. Each sign has a planetary ruler, so you look for that planet in the chart - and it is still communicating with that empty house.
Any of your Angles : the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven or Imum Coeli (the root of your chart) are highly charged signs. It doesn't matter if you have planets there or not, they work powerfully. The Planets associated with these Angles, as ruling planets to the sign, are actively connected to these points. If you have your Midheaven in Aries, but Mars, the ruler of Aries is in Cancer, then your 10th house, is relating strongly with your Cancer Mars in the first house. You look to your 10th house for career and public standing, and because it is in Aries, you are a trailblazer of some kind, maybe with your own business, and your Aries Ruler is controlled or connected to your Mars, and if it is in Cancer, in your first house, then something about your Cancerian ways, and the strength of your body is related to your public standing.
The OTHER thing to pay attention to is the CURRENT ASTRO WEATHER, for 2020 there has been a CHUNK of Capricorn planets moving together : Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter for most of the year -- and if you have an empty Capricorn ruled house it has been FULL during 2020. That is what makes Astrology interesting and dynamic, the way that the current Astrology fills you, bends your energetic focus and flow. You are always learning and being asked to focus in new places and grow.
Some people have chart patterns where an entire half of their chart is empty, and will be sensitive to those who have a chart that FILL the empty houses with their planets. What I am saying is : Other people will fill your empty houses with their Natal chart, that is how synastry works, you can imagine how this reflects a kind of chemistry or flow between people. Imagine what it feels like when you have an empty 7th house of relationship, but someone has there SUN in that sign, they light up that area for you.
You will never be truly empty, and if you do get a time period with an empty house, be thankful, because you might be enjoying a little rest!
